![]() ![]() The Plantagenets are the thirteen crowned rulers from Henry II (1154-1189) to Richard III (1483-1485), with some authorities listing fifteen Plantagenets, counting the co-ruler Henry the Young King, eldest son of Henry II, and the uncrowned Edward V. However, in the study of the Plantagenet dynasty of England, which took its name from the sprig of broom that was the emblem of Geoffrey, count of Anjou (though it ‘was… adopted as a surname towards their end by Richard Duke of York, the father of Edward IV’ ), there have been few, if any, revolutionary discoveries in the last decade. Ten years is a long time in the world of scholarship new discoveries are made and (occasionally) long-cherished interpretations are overturned. ![]()
